... and the doors keep opening....

Wow! As we stand back for a moment and watch what is happening it is simply amazing. In our previous blog we told you about how God is opening doors. Bayer donated 16800 vitamins for the children, which have been distributed in several locations. Friends have started collecting and donating things for the work, others have provided transportation, lawyers have offered free assistance in legal matters, and the list goes on. Our living room has been filled with toys, clothes, food and boxes lately and just today we have sent eight boxes to Proyecto Josias (see more below) completely free of charge. And this has all happened in January.

In Callao we have begun working with "El rebaño de Jesus," a foster home that is extremely run down and in lack of most things. The leader of the home has had a lot on her hands and needed help to see that her home can change for the better. We have hired a Christian psychologist with prior experience of working with orphanages to come and work with the many needs that the home has. There are several special needs children who have had no help at all up until now. Many things were and are in need of change, such as routines, schedules, delegation of daily responsibilities, etc. The psychologist has already implemented the first improvements and we expect that many more will follow in the months to come. Yurika is also there once a week to help the leader deal with some of the difficult issues there are in this home.
We are still looking for sponsors to help with the physical needs. There is a drastic need to rebuild the bathrooms, improve the kitchen and complete areas that have never been finished. Please pray for this and support it financially as well.

Our latest addition to the work is located about eight hours drive north of Lima, near Trujillo, the third largest city in Peru. Outside a village called Laredo we have started working with "Proyecto Josias," a feeding and training center for primary school children. They have just been given permission to also start a daycare unit. The area is very poor and the people living here clearly live below the poverty line as defined by the United Nations. Due to the poverty it is not expected that these children will ever go to high school. They need to work directly after finishing primary school to support the family income. Proyecto Josias help these children learn as much as they can during these few years of school, teach general hygiene and feed the children a hot meal Monday through Friday. We are very pleased to be able to support this project as they, too, believe that the children deserve better and more dignified lives.

We are very thankful to God and to all the woderful people who have supported the work so far. To be able to continue helping needy Peruvian children we still need your support. The costs of providing help to the homes we support requires a lot of funds. You can help us by sending financial support through Western Union (easiest) to:
Por una vida digna para los niños del Perú

PLEASE REMEMBER TO NOTIFY US BY SENDING A MAIL to 4perukids@gmail.com in which you write the name and address of sender and the amount you have sent. If we do not receive your notification, we do not know that the money has been sent and therefore will not go to pick it up.

Boxes packed and ready to be sent to Laredo

Thank you so much for your prayers and your support. Keep telling your friends that we need their help, too.

May God be with you as you head into February!
