From my heart

Dear friends,

Today the day started with a cancellation of classes, so I found myself with time enough to have my devotions and to share with you the thoughts God has put on my heart.
I have just celebrated my birthday and it is in situations like this that you really can see how loved and appreciated you are; when people go out of their ways to greet you, to honor you. God has given me a life where I can feel I am loved foremost by Him, but also that I am loved by my husband, my kids, my family, my friends!

For if we are to speak open all of us love being loved, feeling safe, being pampered, being appreciated, feeling valued.

In our time in Peru we have visited several homes around Lima, some homes do a great job in seeing to the overall needs of the kids, some do a very poor job in taking care of the kids. Some homes do not wish to co-work with any other organization as they are afraid of missing their identity and their power of decision.
I came to think of Mara (name changed), she looks like a 14 year old girl but she is only 12. She is the oldest of 3 children her parents are alcoholic and drug addicts. Both of them have served time in prison and even though the mother is out now. She has neither the will nor the power to take care of her kids.
The home that Mara lives in takes care of her basic needs, a bed to sleep in and a meal 3 times a day. However, the needs of her heart/her soul are not met. She is not appreciated for what she is, she is not valued for what she can become in God and no one shows her affection or love.
In these situations we feel powerless; we know of their existence, of their needs but cannot intervene. What is the future of these kids? What can we do to reach to them? The only answer is prayer! Prayer for Gods protection over the children’s souls, their lives and their destiny. I know that He can make miracles; I know that He can intervene; I know that He cares; I know that He loves each one of them.

So I want to ask you to please join us in praying for them. Pray for Mara and all the children in this home and other homes like this. Pray also for us that God will protect us from harm, sickness, depression and that He may give us strength, health, passion, discipline to continue in the task that He has for us. I know that when we pray God answers!

Thank you for serving with us,

IN HIS SERVICE

Yurika
