It was a great sunday, we went to visit the new Casa Hogar de Gina in Chosica and had a wonderful time with the kids, they danced, preformed theater, read poetry and Torben played volleyball with them!
Well in regards to the Casa Hogar for Boys in la Victoria...The first time we were there (December last year), they would hardly shake our hands. There was an apathy about them, they were fearful of human contact and their whole body attitude rejected us. It was sad to see. The new leadership had invited us there because they hoped that we would be able to help them somehow to change their situation.
These 16 children are not orphans but their parents are not able to take care of them because they live in poverty, others are addicted to other substances. They have grown up without proper care, education and protection. Some of these precious lives have been sexually abused too.
Their lives are being disciplined, also during their meal time. Last Friday I went to visit them .....it was just about lunch time.....they are supposed to sit completely quiet until the food is served to all of them and then they can speak but very quietly, so they have peace while eating. Otherwise it gets out of hand as you can imagine, 16 boys can be very noisy!

Well, someone saw me through the window and began shouting...."Sister Yurika is here!..Sister Yurika is here!...Open the door!". I was not even through the door before I had kisses and hugs and order had to be restored. Torben and I felt so blessed to be used by our Lord Jesus Christ to bring the same love we received from Christ and bless others on his behalf.
2 Corinthians 5:20
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
In these eight months the change has been tremendous. We have gained their trust little by little and now we can sit and have conversations with them and play with them. We rejoice in the Lord because we can see that God has a bright future for each one of them. These changes are being accomplished through the help of our angels around the world, our friends and family. People that want to invest in the lives of these children, so they can get a good education, a good environment, shelter and protection; but most important letting the kids know that God cares...and sends people to help them and love on them.....What a privilege to be the Lord's ambassadors, the very hands and feet of Jesus!
